Here is the latest revised draft of charitable objects for submission by PAT for consideration by the Charity Commission. There has been much discussion, debate, controversy and even opposition to registering as a charity. A series of meetings will be arranged before charity registration is applied for. Use the chat room meetings or the BLOG to let us have your views.
.To advance the education of parents, particularly in respect of the law regarding disability and special educational needs, to develop the capacity and skills of parents who are socially and economically disadvantaged by the task of caring for their disabled children such that they are then better able to participate more fully in society, better able to advocate for themselves and better able to meet the needs of their families;
.To relieve financial hardship and sickness among socially and economically disadvantaged parents caring for or nursing a child with special educational needs or a physical or a mental disability, who, through lack of means, would otherwise be unable to obtain necessary support, through the provision of advice and group advocacy support to those responsible for their care, and by the provision of free legal advice;
.To preserve and protect the health of those caring for people with physical, mental or sensory impairment within the family or home by offering a respite service and by the provision of community based care attendants;
.To further the above charitable objects by engaging in legitimate campaigning, persuasion, the promotion of ethical standards of conduct, accountability, transparency and compliance with the law in the public and private sectors, the promotion of sound administration, the development of the law and the application of the law in practice.
